Description

October 2012 - Turin, Medieval Village

Lorenzo

Piedmont crossbowman from the half of XIII century. He's equipped with a chapel-de-fer (iron hat) and a gambison, and armed with a falchion and a crossbow. The crossbow had a wood bow - the steel bow appeared later in the XV century - but was anyway far more powerful than the shortbow used by Italian archers, at the cost of a slower firing rate. A crossbow bolt, shorter than an arrow, could pierce a mail shirt even at a middle-long range, resulting in crossbowmen being a true pain in the ass for heavy cavalry and infantry.

altra grande ricostruzione :D

XD
