I might have a partialised knowledge on this matter, but how comes it has a hole in it? Do you happen to know on what finding or depiction is it based?
It puzzles me why would a blacksmith put a hole (specially a square one!) on a 'chopping' blade like a sax or falchion...

Ah what a beautiful picture! This is a great example for how important such 'small' details truly are and how much more stylish your camp can be. Thanks for uploading this because this looks like a scene from a good movie ... the very moment before the battle starts! Love it!
