A reconstruction of a group of traveling soldiers.
From left to right: an archer, a light infantryman, a medium infantryman, a light infantryman and two heavy infantrymen. Notice the way the chain mail hauberk is carried by the soldiers; this is also pictured on the Bayeux Tapestry. Probably the group is making a short trip away, perhaps to join a company of soldiers, among whom is the owner of the hauberk (and seeing how it shines, compared to those worn, must be a person of some importance).

Desirèe Åström is born in California, and has been living in Turin for 30 years. She attended photography courses for two years at the European Institute for Design in Milan. Her works have been published in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. She collaborates with many prestigious magazines, including OASIS, and with major publishing houses including the famous White Star. She won awards in many photo competitions, including the Italian Championship of Nature Photography 2008.

Ricostruzione di un manipolo di soldati in viaggio.
Da sinistra verso destra: un arciere, un fante leggero, un fante medio, un fante leggero e due fanti pesanti. Notare il modo in cui viene trasportato l'usbergo di cotta di maglia, raffigurato anche nell'Arazzo di Bayeux. Probabilmente il manipolo sta facendo un breve viaggio, forse per raggiungere un altro gruppo di soldati, tra cui il possessore dell'usbergo (e visto come è lucido, rispetto ai due indossati, deve essere qualcuno di importante).

Desirèe Åström è una svedese nata in California, vive a Torino da 30 anni. Ha frequentato presso l’Istituto Europeo di Design di Milano corsi di Fotografia negli anni accademici 2000/2001 e 2001/2002. Suoi lavori più “giornalistici” sono stati pubblicati in Svezia, Norvegia e Danimarca. Collabora con prestigiose riviste italiane e estere fra cui OASIS, e con importanti case editrici fra cui la nota White Star.
Da sempre la fotografia ha accompagnato l’interesse per i viaggi e l’amore per gli animali colti nei paesaggi più estremi. L’Antartide, l’Islanda, le regioni più settentrionali del Giappone, le isole Svalbard, l’Africa Orientale sono stati i principali teatri delle sue spedizioni fotografiche.
Premiata in numerosi concorsi fotografici, ricordiamo il secondo posto al Campionato Italiano di Fotografia Naturalistica 2008.
